Swoope Resident Dies At Age 34

Amber Alicia Atkins, 34, of Swoope, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of a pregnancy on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Amber was born in Richmond on August 19, 1986, a daughter of Richard Clayton "Clay" Atkins Jr. and Kimberly Alisa (Floyd) Atkins.

Amber was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Armani Smith.

Surviving in addition to her parents of Swoope and fiancé, Marcus Smith of Lexington, is a son, Elijah Smith of Swoope; three daughters, Tristyn Tolley of Lexington, Nyliah Graham and Haevyn Smith, both of Swoope; two brothers, Ricky Atkins of Buena Vista and Dustin Atkins of Staunton; a sister, Tiffany Atkins of Craigsville; maternal grandfather, Donald Floyd of Staunton and paternal grandfather, Richard Atkins of Richmond; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 11 in the Ben Salem Presbyterian Church, 34 Ben Salem Lane, Buena Vista, by Cody Adkins.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
