Gary Richard Dowdy, 39, of Williamsburg, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his home.

Born December 21, 1981 in Covington, Virginia, he was the son of Dreama Ellen Dowdy Workman and the late Gary Hayes Dowdy.

He worked as a truck driver.

Gary was a U. S. Marine Corps Combat veteran and had served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith David Dowdy.

Including his mother, survivors are his wife of nineteen years, Christy Ward Dowdy; two sons, Donovan Ward of Lewisburg, WV and Gabriel Dowdy of Williamsburg, WV; grandson, Briar Grayson Shortlidge; brothers, Timothy Wayne Dowdy and Jacob Dean Dowdy of Lewisburg, WV; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Cindy Ward and friend, Chavis Gabbert of Lewisburg, WV.

Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
