Obituary for Floyd Cecil McCoy Jr. Floyd Cecil McCoy Jr.
Retired CSX Railroad Engineer Was Lone Star Advent Christian Church Deacon

Floyd Cecil McCoy Jr., age 69, of 3571 Cowpasture River Highway, Millboro, Virginia, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his residence.

He was born June 7, 1952 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Floyd Cecil McCoy, Sr. and Virginia Lamb McCoy.

He was a retired railroad engineer for CSX Transportation for over 30 years, a member and deacon of Lone Star Advent Christian Church, and was an attendee of Horeb Baptist Church.

He was director of the Mountain Soil and Water Conservation District, a hard-working beef cattle producer, and enjoyed going on cruises and collecting watches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Yvonne McCoy.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Nicely McCoy of Millboro; a daughter, Suzanne Turner of Burlington, NC; a son, Stuart McCoy and wife, Renee of Millboro; four grandchildren, Addison Turner, Caroline Turner, Aaron Turner, Mary Cathrine McCoy; a great grandson, Owen Duncan; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Steve Markum officiating.

Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Duff, Sam Duff, Randy Durham, Al Durham, Ricky McCoy, Addison Turner, Stuart McCoy and Michael Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Nicely, Eddy Nicely, Randy Nicely, Michael Nicely, and C. J Nicely.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Camp ACCOVAC, 33021 Mountain Valley Road, Millboro, Virginia 24460 and to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.
