Obituary for Ernest L. (Ernie) Nicely Ernest L. (Ernie) Nicely
Clifton Forge Resident Dies At Age 82

Ernest (Ernie) Leroy Nicely, age 82, of 4801 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at LewisGale Alleghany Hospital.

He was born March 2, 1939 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Clarence Hughes Nicely and Mae Etta Nicely.

He retired from Westvaco Corporations, was a member of the Lone Star Advent Christian Church where he was a trustee and a member of the choir, attended Iron Gate Baptist, and joined Covington Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Jean Wrenn Nicely; a brother, Fremont "Sonny" Nicely; and a sister, Eula Lee Nicely.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Webb Nicely of Clifton Forge; one daughter, Stephanie Nicely Bowbeer and husband, David of Salem; one son, Ernest Brian Nicely and wife, Vicki of Weatherford, Texas; Geri's children, Annette Borst of Philadelphia, Sherry Paradis and husband, Rich of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sylvia Heiner of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Mark Borst and wife, Leanne of San Diego, California; two sisters, Nadeen Moles of Waynesboro, Josie Denius and husband, Larry of Clifton Forge; a brother, C. J. Nicely and wife, Bonnie of Fincastle; 12 grandchildren Logan Hart, Caleb Bowbeer, Tayler Nicely, Pearle Torres, Allen Torres, Zach Rameriz, Cassandra Mcmannon, Ethan Paradis, Haley Paradis, Adam Bailey, Savannah Bailey, and Jake Borst; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kay and Jerry Curtis, Matt and Jackie Moore, and Susan Wilhelm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Brad Armes officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge, military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1033. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
