Obituary for Lonnie Franklin Phillips, Sr. Lonnie Franklin Phillips, Sr.
Retired Westvaco Carbon Plant Operator Was Good News Church Member

Lonnie Franklin Phillips, Sr., age 77, of 244 Trinity Circle, Covington, Virginia died Friday, June 25, 2021 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

He was born February 3, 1944 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Lonnie H. W. Phillips and Margaret Sue Loan Phillips.

He was a retired operator for the Westvaco Carbon Plant and attended Good News Christian Fellowship.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, blue grass music, and tinkering in his garage. He never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Ann Fury Phillips; a daughter, April Leigh Phillips of Eagle Rock; a step-daughter, LeeAnn McCulley of Covington; a son, Lonnie Franklin Phillips, Jr. of Roanoke; a step-son, Lucas Wayne Nicely of Daleville; three brothers and their spouses, Ronnie and Susan Canfield Phillips of Texas, Clinton and Phyllis S. Phillips of Covington and Charlie and Kenny Phillips of Pennsylvania; a special niece/sister, Linda White; three grandchildren, Alex McCulley, Jaxon McCulley and Mackenzie Nicely; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on a later date at Good News Christian Fellowship, Covington, with Brother Clinton Phillips and Pastor Steve Noel officiating.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
