Obituary for Edna Kay Basham Munsey Edna Kay Basham Munsey
Former Homestead Employee Worked With Best Western Mountain View Restaurant

Ms. Edna Kay Basham Munsey, age 69, of Covington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at her residence.

She is no longer in pain and is free from the restraints of her earthly body.

Kay was born February 22, 1952 in Covington, a daughter of Elroy and Maggie Bane Basham.

Kay was employed by the Homestead resort where she worked in the dress shop "The First Lady." She enjoyed visits with customers and loved her coworkers. She was also a waitress at Best Western Mountain View where she had many great "regulars" and friends.

Her smile and caring nature will never be forgotten. After retirement, Kay took on the greatest job of all, being "KK" to her grandson, Mason, which kept her very busy.

Left to cherish her memory and sweet smile forever are daughter, Addie Munsey Holesapple; son-in-law, Shawn Holesapple, and her favorite grandson, Mason James Holesapple; and the father of her child, Jack Munsey, Jr.; her sister, Bonnie Keyser, and husband, Michael; nephew, James Hodges III and wife, Christie; great nieces and nephews, Cora, Daisy, and James Hodges and sister-in-law, Sherry Keyser.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Joyletta Lemon and Demetria Douglas for all the love and care they gave to Kay while at home.

In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Maggie Frances.

The family wishes to celebrate Kay's life with a casual "family night" at Loving Funeral Home on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Come in to visit, share memories, and remember Kay fondly. The family suggests wearing bright colors.

Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
