Monterey Native Held Several Public Positions In Durbin, West Virginia

Emma Grace Nottingham, 99, of Durbin, West Virginia, passed away June 29, 2021 at her daughters home in Pennsylvania.

Emma was born March 3, 1922 at Monterey, Virginia to the late William Franklin and Jessie Varner Simmons.

Mrs. Nottingham served the town of Durbin, holding positions of Treasurer, Mayor and Recorder Clerk. She was of the Methodist Faith, a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a homemaker.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; great grandchild, Cole Robbins; sisters, Marie Miller, Dorothy Langlois, and Margaret Jessie Ano; brothers, William, Paris, Leroy, Walter Simmons.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Moats (John) of Pennsburg, PA; son, William D. "Buck" Nottingham (Ingrid) of Ahoskie, NC; grandchildren, Deneen Robins, Michael Moats and Devona Lassiter; great grandchildren, Katie Robbins, Clay Robbins, Mikayla Moats, Austin Lassiter, Kyle Moats and Zack Moats and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nottingham will be held Friday July 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. noon, July 2, 2021 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment to follow at the Arbovale Cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends from 11:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
