Obituary for Thelma Eloise Tingler Arrington Thelma Eloise Tingler Arrington
Lifelong Member Of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Was Alleghany County Native

Mrs. Thelma Eloise Tingler Arrington, age 90, of Covington, Virginia, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on July 8, 2021. She was the wife of the late James Bedford Arrington.

Mrs. Arrington was born March 12, 1931 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Samuel Franklin Tingler and Indola Stone Tingler.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

Mrs. Arrington was a lifelong member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church, as well as a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and a member of the women's club.

Eloise enjoyed working in her flower garden, her vegetable garden and canning the fruits of her labor. She also enjoyed singing, traveling with her husband, but most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Eloise is survived by two sons, Ronald Wayne Arrington and wife, Connie, and Arnold Samuel Arrington and wife, Frannie; daughter, Gayle A. Martin and husband, Steve; eight grandchildren, Jamie Crowe, Tracey Loving, Stacey Hutchinson, Stephanie Wright, Laura Cochran, Erin Nicely, Meghan Potts and Sara Baker; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a special friend, Barry Schell and wonderful caregiver, Susie O'Conner.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Michael Arrington; granddaughter, Melissa Meagher and daughter-in-law, Donna Kay Arrington; four brothers, Frank Tingler, Homer Tingler, Lee Allen Tingler and Samuel "Buckie" Tingler; five sisters, Mary Blankenship, Virginia Craft, Nellie Smith, Mattie Tucker and Myrl Tingler.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Crowe, Craig Loving, Jeff Wright, Brad Nicely, Justin Potts, Andrew Baker, Mike Cochran and Ethan Nicely.

The family will receive their friends Sunday evening, July 11, 2021, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and other times, her residence at 5329 Frontier Lane, Covington.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church, 205 Fletcher Chapel Road, Covington, VA, 24426.
