Monica Lynn Staton, 45, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Monica was born July 2, 1976 to Pamela and Stanley Dudley in Lexington.

She graduated from Rockbridge County High School in 1994. In 2000, Monica and Jamey were married and proceeded to raise two children, Cierra and Colton, whom she loved very much. Also part of the family was her beloved dog, Opie.

Monica began her teaching career in 2006 with the Buena Vista City Public Schools where she made many lasting impacts on her students. She never met a stranger and made quite a few lifelong friendships over the course of her life. Monica loved being outdoors and at the beach. Many weekends, you could find her floating on the river.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Sebby Volpe. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
