Oliver Alfred Moore, 79, of Vesuvius, Virginia, passed away, Sunday, July 18, 2021.

Born May 5, 1942 in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Oliver R. Moore and Dolly Campbell Moore Henson and Ralph T. Henson.

He was a member of the Oronoco Brethren Church where he served as treasurer for many years.

He retired from Hermetite. While he was employed there he served as secretary and treasurer of the United Paper Workers Union. After his retirement, he loved to garden and take care of his lawn.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Moore, Ralph T. Henson, Jr., and his twin brother, Jimmy Moore; sister, Delores Humphries; and brother-in-law, Gordon Walker.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Barbara Staton Moore; three children, Shawn Moore, J.D. Moore (Nickie), and Jerry Moore (Jeanie); three grandchildren, Jacob Moore (Mercedes), Trevor Moore, and Jared Moore; and two great grandchildren, Mason and Addison Moore; sisters, Patricia Walker, Brenda Austin (Bobby), and Linda Deyton; sisters-in-law, Edna Moore, Alice Henson, and Motty Moore; brother-in-law, Bobby Humphries.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Arnold Bradley and Rev. Stan Ogden. Burial will follow at Oronoco Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
