Obituary for David Grey Nicely David Grey Nicely
Former Sharon Ruritan Club Treasurer Was Central Advent Christian Church Member

David Grey Nicely, age 88, of 511 Wintergreen Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, July 19, 2021 at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany.

He was born December 23, 1932 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Wilber Nicely and Ida Conner Nicely.

He was a member of the Central Advent Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He also served as the treasurer for the Sharon Ruritan Club.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his first wife, Mary Viola Eubank Nicely; his second wife, Doris Nicely; a grandson, Christopher Freels; five brothers, Alvin Nicely, Ashby Nicely, Arlie Nicely, Harold Nicely and Dilbert Nicely; three sister, Aredena Hetler, Marie Lacey and Almedia Ray.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra Elbon and her husband, Doug of Middleburg, FL, Donna Freels and her husband, Jerry of Rich Patch, Diane Hanna and her husband, David of Marion; step daughter, Pamela Long Lipes of Buena Vista; two step sons, William Henry Long, Jr. of Fincastle and Christopher Lee Long of Clifton Forge; five grandchildren, Priscilla Wetzel, David Elbon, Candice Stevens, Krystal Tuono, and Brock Hanna; five step grandchildren, Steve Lipes, Joseph Lipes, Andrew Long, Meagan Long and William Lipes; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews including special nephews, Ricky and Robbie Bates.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at Central Advent Christian Church.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contribution to Sharon Ruritan and American Heart Association.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
