Obituary for Lyle Thurman Staton Lyle Thurman Staton
First Brethren Church Member Was Burlington Industries Retiree

Lyle Thurman Staton, 90, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away, Monday, July 19, 2021.

Born June 16, 1931 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Allen "Lonie" Staton and Audrey Coleman Staton.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Elmer, Donald and Lester Staton; and sisters, Vivian Wilmer and Mildred Ogden.

Lyle was a long time member of First Brethren Church where he served as trustee, deacon, usher and choir member. He was the lead singer in the Brethrenaires Quartet. Lyle loved many outdoor activities; some of his favorites were metal detecting and ginseng hunting.

He retired after 42 years of dedicated service to Burlington Industries.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Marion Shafer Staton; three children, Linda Staton, Jerry Staton and Rhonda Crowder (Tommy); one grandchild, Wendi Rice (Tony); and two great grandchildren, Dustin and Andrew Rice; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 24 at 11 a.m. at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow and the Rev. Michael Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista.
