Obituary for David Preston (Sardy) Linkenhoker, Sr. David Preston (Sardy) Linkenhoker, Sr.
Clifton Forge Resident Army Reserve, Virginia National Guard Member, Former Hercules, AET Employee

David Preston (Sardy) Linkenhoker, Sr., age 78, of 220 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1943 in Covington, Virginia to the late William Linkenhoker and Mary Belle Dillon Linkenhoker.

He was a laborer for Hercules and AET.

Sardy served in the U. S. Army Reserve and Virginia National Guard.

He was a member of South Covington U.M.C., and was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #1065 and the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge #1683. He was a member of the singing group "Seven Squires" and he played football and wrestled in high school and also coached Little League and Bath Ruth Baseball. Sardy liked fishing and was a diehard UVA Cavalier and Redskins fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, William, Warren and Joe; and a grandson, Zachary Dillon Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Gilbert Linkenhoker of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Lisa Linkenhoker Hall of Clifton Forge; two sons, David Preston Linkenhoker, Jr. and friend, Jackie of Roanoke, Mark Linkenhoker and wife, Melissa of Clifton Forge; a sister, Patricia Tucker of Covington; a brother, Paul Linkenhoker and wife, Brenda of Covington; eleven grandchildren, David Preston Linkenhoker III, Eric Linkenhoker, Brett Linkenhoker, Joseph Linkenhoker, Tyler Linkenhoker, Logan Linkenhoker, Michael Hall, Caleb Hall, Samuel Hall, Dorothy and Josh; eight great grandchildren with one on the way; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
