James Edward Stanley, 70, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Born April 16, 1951 in Hopewell, he was the son of George Stanley Sr. and Dorothy Liptrap Stanley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Wayne Stanley.

"Big Jim" was known as the best roofer for Holland General Contractors in the State of Virginia.

Surviving are his wife, Debra "Kay" Stanley; brother, George Stanley, Jr. (Mary Jane); sister-in-law, Sue Moore (Lewis), brother-in-law, Ricky McDaniel (Tina), sisters-in-law, Sharon Thorne, Camilla and Freddie Ramirez, Tamela McDaniel; brother-in-law, Christopher McDaniel; many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved "Big Jim".

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
