Covington Resident Was Sweet Springs Baptist Church Member

Mrs. Adena Carrol McCulley, age 73, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Ricky Eugene McCulley.

Mrs. McCulley was born October 29, 1947 in Covington, the daughter of the late James Franklin Tingler and Mabel Redman Tingler.

A homemaker, she enjoyed playing bingo as well as being on social media including Facebook and Tik-Tok.

Adena was a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCulley is survived by two sons, Robert Morris, Jr. (Cindy) and Jason McCulley (Bettie); five daughters, Chrystal McCulley, Darlene McAllister (Steve), Melanie Walton, April Walton (Toni), Amanda Jones (Shane); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Howard Tingler (Judy) of Covington, Chuckie Tingler (Denise) of Covington, Rodney Tingler (Pat) of Covington; a sister, Brenda Humphries of Covington; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCulley is preceded in death by grandchildren, Baby Jeremy, Landon Todd and Hayden Eli; a brother, Benson Tingler; three sisters, Velma Tingler, Dreama Darlene Givens, and Arnetta Hicks; a son-in-law, Tracy McCulley; and brothers-in-law, Wade Humphries and Howard Hicks.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Carl "Shortie" Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bogar, Dinky Bogar, Anthony Davis, Jeremy Morris, Bert DePriest, Greyson Walton, Ethan Walton, Logan McAllister and Albert Peacock.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
