Obituary for Melody Grant Hirten Melody Grant Hirten
Former Telemarketer Was Good News Church Member

Mrs. Melody Grant Hirten, age 74, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Brian Center Nursing Home - Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was the wife of the late Frank Hirten.

Mrs. Hirten was born June 12, 1947 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Charles James Grant and Gloria Rowe Crews.

During her working career, she was a telemarketer where she excelled at selling many different types of products.

Mrs. Hirten was a member of Good News Church and was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. She was a very outgoing person who loved talking with people and socializing. Also, Melody loved animals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hirten is survived by two sons, Tony Shiflett and Troy Shiflett; grandchildren, Morgan Shiflett, Alex Shiflett, Kayden Shiflett, Angel Shiflett Robertson and Shawn Shiflett; one great grandchild, Waylon Robertson; one sister, Wendy Smith; aunt, Peggy Rowe and several nieces and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hirten was preceded in death by her son, Todd Shiflett, as well as an infant daughter, Juanita Denise.

A graveside service will conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
