Former Kenny's Operator Was Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints Church Member

June Elizabeth Miller Southers, 89, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Mrs. Southers was born January 1, 1932 in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Harry David Miller and Margaret Elvetta Clements Miller.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Roy Clyde Southers, and seven brothers, who adored her.

Mrs. Southers was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. June and her husband, Roy Southers, owned and operated Kenney's from 1963 to 1994.

Mrs. Southers is survived by two daughters, Sherri Southers Wheeler and husband, Leroy, and Beth Southers Slagle and husband, Steve, both of Buena Vista; grandchildren, Joseph D. Wheeler and wife, Jenn of St. George, Utah, Ruthie Lawhorne and husband, Craig of Buena Vista, Joshua W. Wheeler of Snohomish, Wash., Ellen M. Wheeler of Buena Vista, Joy L. Loudermilk and wife, Mandy of Glasgow, Amy Hostetter and husband, Chad of Huntsville, Ala., and Jason Slagle and wife, Shannon of Buena Vista; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Bishop Brian Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
