Dunlap Christian Church Member Dies At Age 87

Mrs. Betty Howard Mann, age 87, of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at her daughters residence in Roanoke. She was the wife of the late George Preston Mann.

Mrs. Mann was born November 11, 1933 in Neola, WV, the daughter of the late Henry Burse Howard and Edith Wade Howard.

A lifetime resident of this community, she was a homemaker who truly enjoyed taking care of her family. Mrs. Mann especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Betty was a longtime member of Dunlap Christian Church.

Mrs. Mann is survived by a daughter, Julie Mann Jones and husband, Rodney of Roanoke; a granddaughter, Brittany Mann Lamb and husband, Jesse; and three great grandchildren, Kaylee Alexis Bowers, Beau Preston Lamb and Raegan James Lamb; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Jones, Jesse Lamb, Jimmy Bush, Danny Martin, Jay Easton and Tony Redman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Ramsey, Dave Richards, Herman McConnell, David Palmer and in tribute to a beloved cousin, the late Paul Howard.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Dunlap Fire Department, P. O. Box 218, Covington, VA 24426.
