Mary Kathleen Weese Carter, 81, of Dunlap Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died August 27, 2021 at Charleston General Hospital in Charleston, WV.

Ms. Carter was born February 5, 1940 in Princeton, WV, a daughter of the late Haven and Gladys Richmond Weese.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

She worked at Hanover Shoes, as a seamstress for Halmode, Inc, and most recently as a cook at Alleghany Manor.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, doing word search puzzle, and her family. She enjoyed talking on the phone and she would always say she loved you when you called.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Keith Scruggs and Lois and Reggie Hayslett; a son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Kim Carter; six grandchildren, Jeremy Carey and wife, Joan, Erin Carter, Tonya Fowler and husband, Quentin, Taylor Carter and wife, Taylor, Zac Carter and wife, Taylor, and Seth Carter and fiancé, Laurel Moore; three great grandchildren, Amelia Fowler, Reagan Carter and Lakyn Carter; two sisters, Darlene Carey and Deloris Combs; two brothers, Buck Weese and Randy Weese; a special friend, Patty Breeden, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
