Clifton Forge Resident Dies At Age 57

Frances Ann Smith Putnam, age 57, of 1700 Main Street, Apartment # 7, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, September 3, 2021 at her residence.

She was born January 28, 1964 in Clifton Forge to the late Garland Gene Smith and Paula Terry "Snutty" Smith. She was a homemaker throughout her life who enjoyed crafts, watching movies, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Putnam, Sr.; a brother, Donald Ray Smith; and grandparents, Pauline Terry and Paul Terry.

She is survived by a daughter, Paula Putnam of Clifton Forge; a "special daughter", Anna Newcomb of Iron Gate; four sons, John Putnam, Jr. of Richmond, Joseph Putnam and significant other, Deborah Vickery of Clifton Forge, R. J. Robinson, Jr. of Clifton Forge, and James Cody Robinson of Roanoke; a sister, Rhoda Gail Smith of Clifton Forge; a special aunt, Tootle Terry; two grandchildren, Oliver Hess and Raelynn Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; two "special sons", C. W. Nelson and Cordale Walkar Elmore; and special friend, Betty Putnam.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

There are no services planned at this time.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements.
