William Royer Nuckols, 93, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the comfort of his home.

William was born January 14, 1928 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was the son of the late William Alfred Nuckols and Annie Burch Nuckols.

William was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Tomlin Nuckols, and one brother, Richard T. Nuckols.

Surviving are his son, David L. Nuckols; his daughter, Patty N. Shafer and husband, Donnie; two granddaughters, Jenny Shafer and Becky Shafer; and two great-grandchildren, Carley Scott and Scottie Garrett.

William "Bill" worked as a mechanic for more than 50 years. At age 15, he went to work for Robey Motor Co., ultimately Courtesy Ford Mercury. He loved his family, including his pets, Micky, Andy, and Rocky.

No public service is planned. The family will remember their father and grandfather in a private service.
