Lexington Resident Dies At Age 96

Jacqueline (Jackie) Francis Tate Fenton passed away September 18, 2021, at the age of 96 in Lexington, Virginia.

Jackie was born in St. Petersburg, Fla., March 5, 1925 to the late Edwin Milton Tate and Gladys Burns (Francis) Tate.

Jackie lived most of her life in New Jersey, working for the Pennsylvania Railroad, The Red Bank Register and Middletown Township Schools.

She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church Atop Tower Hill, Red Bank, N.J. The last year and a half, she lived with her daughter in Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" R. Fenton; her parents; and sister, Barbara (Tate) Quackenbush.

Surviving are her children, John R. Fenton of Florida, Shelley Fenton Undercoffer (Graham, her favorite son-in-law), Robert B. Fenton of New Jersey; her four grandchildren, Andrew, Brian, Cole and Caitlin Undercoffer; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and her granddogs, Elsie and Hazel.

There will be no service at this time.
