Obituary for Douglas Wayne Altizer Douglas Wayne Altizer
Westvaco Retiree Dies At Age 64

Douglas W. Altizer, age 64, of 107 Circle H. Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Virginia Beach Medical Center while doing what he loved at Virginia Beach.

He was the oldest child of the late Herman Douglas “Buzzy” Altizer and Etha Stalnaker Altizer.

He retired from Westvaco after several years of service and was a former member of Falling Springs, Clifton Forge, and Westvaco Fire and First Aid Departments.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Mays Altizer.

He is survived by his fiancée, Sandy Wiseman; his children, Patrick Lopez of Clifton Forge, Doug W. Altizer, Jr. and wife, Heidi, of Covington, and Mary Beth Altizer and fiancé, Danny Dobbs, of Louisiana; two sisters, Susan M. Altizer of Covington and Julie L. Altizer and wife, Paula, of Buena Vista; four grandchildren, Hunter Higgins and Gage Higgins of Louisiana, and Makenlee Altizer and Emma Allen of Covington; a special nephew, Ian Altizer; and a host of extended family and friends, including his children at heart, Chelsey Chittum and husband, Phillip, of Roanoke, Shannon Richmond, Christopher and Evie Wiseman; and grandchildren at heart, Kennedy, Savanna, Cooper, Maisley and Taivon Knobles, Dylan Vess, and Hayden Wills.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
