Former Clifton Forge Resident, Retired Bull Pen Cook, Dies In Salem
Olive Gertrude (Boots) Wallace Anderson, age 91, of Rose Avenue, now Sioux Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
Gertrude was born April 10, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late James Eugene Wallace and Maryetta Porter Wallace.
She was a retired cook for the C & O Restaurant, known as "The Bull Pen".
She was a member of the First Church of God in Christ in Clifton Forge where she was a member of the choir, played the organ and piano, and sang. She attended Sunday school faithfully, loved her church family, and reading the Bible. She also enjoyed making jewelry and fishing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy Anderson, three sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by a special cousin, Dinese Carter and husband, Kevin of Richmond, VA; and a special niece, Evangelist Tamala Washington Preston and husband, Reverend Timothy Preston of Clifton Forge; her beloved Goddaughter, Tunja Lewis of Cincinnati, OH, along with nieces and nephews, Otis Marshall, Jr., Clifton Forge Mayor Pamela Marshall, Timothy Marshall, Sr., Hubert Marshall and wife, Yvette, David Marshall and wife, Wendy, Latrina Richmond and husband, James, George Wallace, and Leato Wallace, in addition to a host of other great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other family members; and special caregivers, Terri Leisure, Jennie Hatcher, Beatrice Smith, and Nannie West.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Elder Leon Taylor officiating. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
