Obituary for Thomas Lee (Tom) Porter, Sr. Thomas Lee (Tom) Porter, Sr.
Millboro Resident Was Beef Cattle Producer, Windy Cove Presbyterian Church Member

Thomas Lee (Tom) Porter, Sr., age 79, of 42 Indian Hill Road, Millboro, Virginia, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center, Clifton Forge.

He was born March 20, 1942 in Bath County to the late Fred Porter and Dora Simmons Porter.

He worked for Geico Insurance for 18 years, was a member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge #166 A.F. & A.M.

He was a beef cattle producer and a caretaker for Fort Dickinson Farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and was an excellent baseball player.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Karen Cooper Porter; and two brothers, Don and Jack Porter.

He is survived by a son, Thomas "Tommy" Porter, Jr. and wife, Tracey Buchanan Porter of Millboro; two grandchildren, Thomas Lee Porter, III and Amber Elizabeth Porter; special friends, Terry and Mary Margaret King, his community neighbors and his special companion, Little Bit.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Windy Cove Cemetery, Millboro.

Pallbearers will be Michael Campbell, Robert "Chubby" Harlow, Don Porter, Rickey McCoy, Buddy Buchanan, and David Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy White and Frank McCoy. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home with Masonic Rites presented at 7:00 p.m. by Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge #166 A.F. & A.M.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Kazim Shriners Transportation Fund, 628 W. Campbell Ave, SW Roanoke, Virginia 24016.
