Iron Gate Town Council Member Was U. S. Army Veteran

Donald Miller (Donnie) Hall, age 81, of Iron Gate, Virginia died Monday, October 18, 2021 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Salem.

He was born August 3, 1940 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Abner Hall and Grace Kendall Hall.

He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, serving four tours in Vietnam, with his last duty station being 82nd Airborne Division in Ft. Bragg, NC.

He was a retired installer for Able Material Handling Company of Roanoke.

Donnie was a Master Mason, a member of Clifton Forge Elks Lodge #1065, a member of Clifton Forge Moose Lodge #1683, a member of Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge #166 A.F. & A.M., a member of Clifton Forge Lions Club and a member of Clifton Forge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4299. He was also on the Iron Gate Town council.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel "Sammy" Hall; a niece, Rita Kay Krafft (Gibson); a brother-in-law, Roy Calvin Brown; a nephew, Bernie Gibson and former wives.

He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Bowles and husband, Chris of Roanoke, Amanda Morris and husband, Tommy of Covington; two sons, Kevin Hall and wife, Tracy of Kentucky, Matthew Rivera and wife, Cindy of Florida; a sister, Margaret Brown of Clifton Forge; a brother, Richard Hall of Texas; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and host of friends throughout the community and beyond.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements.
