Obituary for Jimmy Elden Long Jimmy Elden Long
Lone Star Advent Christian Church Member Was Marine Corps Veteran

Jimmy Elden Long, age 74, of 310 W. Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, October 18, 2021 at LewisGale Hospital-Montgomery.

He was born April 27, 1947 in West Virginia to the late James Edward Long and Audrey Breeding Long.

He was retired from the United States Marine Corps and was a retired coal miner in West Virginia. He was also a member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being in the outdoors, car shows and classic cars. Jimmy enjoyed helping others and was friends to everyone he met; he never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step son, Ernie Underwood, and a step grandson, "Tee" Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Harlow Underwood Long of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Jennifer Hagerman and husband, Randall and Robin Graham and husband, Michael, both of West Virginia; a step daughter, Rhonda Hoke of Clifton Forge; a son, Jimmy Edward Long and wife, Lynne of Ohio; two step sons, Ronnie Underwood and wife, Betty of Roanoke and Cheyenne Underwood and wife, Brandi of Dinwiddie; a sister, Patricia Arlene Long of West Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Steven, Courtney, Randy, Audriana, Natalie, Matthew, Chad, Jamie, Ronnie, Ryan and Kelly; seventeen great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special companions, his dog, Lady and his cat, Tigger.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The friends may visit the funeral home anytime during normal business hours.
