Avery Kenos Johnson, 84, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away at October 8, 2021 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

He was born November 24, 1936 near Lewisburg, and was the son of the late Richard and Tessie Legg Johnson.

Avery was a member of Shuck Memorial Baptist Church, had worked for Anderson Paving and was a retired supervisor with the WV Department of Highways with 28 years of service.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl and Edwin.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Phyllis Lewis Johnson; sons, Russell "Choppy" Williams and his wife, Carol of Frankford, WV and John Johnson of Washington, DC; and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
