Former Hercules, Inc. Employee Was Lone Star Advent Christian Church Member

Frederick Lisle (Fred) Whiting, age 88, of 4419 Riverland Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, October 22, 2021 at his residence.

He was born October 18, 1933 in Covington, Virginia to the late James Whiting and Carrie Caldwell Whiting.

He retired from the carpenter shop at Hercules, Inc. in Covington, attended Lone Star Advent Christian Church, was a board member for Hilltop Ministries and attended Bethesda Church in White Sulphur Springs.

He was a father figure to many children and loved to show the children God's love.

Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and football.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Nicely Whiting of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Jodi Vaughn and husband, Scott of York, PA; two sons, Frederick L. Whiting, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of New Port Richie, FL and Tommy Whiting and wife, Colette of Alpharetta, GA; two sisters, Frances Bush of Covington and Gwen Carwile of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jimmy Whiting of Lynchburg and Garland Whiting and wife, Wanda of Covington; eight grandchildren, Michelle Vaughn, Kerri Vaughn, Forrest Vaughn, Kristy Thomas, Holley Whiting, Frederick Whiting III, T.J Whiting, and Brooke Whiting; eight great grandchildren, Oliver Lopez Vaughn, Victoria Himes, Sean Paul Thomas, Jr., Derrick Whiting, Erick Whiting, Bryson Whiting, Brayden Whiting, Brantley Whiting; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Grover Nicely officiating.

Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Randy Whiting, Luke Lyons, Lee Bush, Ray Crush, Matt Crush and Frank Cook.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Hilltop Ministries, 4419 Riverland Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.
