Rockbridge County Native Dies At Age 97

Grace Bell Jenkins, 97, of Lexington, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2021.

Born April 4, 1924 in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Gardner Riley and Ola Truslow Riley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Jenkins; son, Charles Joseph Chatterton; granddaughter, Grace Mildred "Millie" Wilson; great grandson, Austin Chatterton; and son-in-law, Michael Wilson.

Grace was proud to have lived such a full life and to see five generations of her family.

Surviving are her daughters, Doris Chatterton and Marie Wilson; grandchildren, Mark Floyd (Juanita), Lisa Lavender (Daniel), Sheila Owens (James), Charles Chatterton Jr., Jeremy Chatterton (Carrie), Rachel Skoog (Trenton), and Rebekah Chatterton; great grandchildren, Derek Floyd (Summer), Britney Campbell (Shaun), Crystal Lipscomb (Darrell), Jimmy Huffman, Cheyenne Owens, Jeffrey Groah Jr., Malia Chatterton, Jeremy Chatterton Jr., Reba Chatterton, and Maverick Lozano; great great grandchildren, Ethan Floyd, Drake Floyd, Bruce Floyd, Angel Smith, Trinity Campbell, Kierstyn Campbell, Felicity Lipscomb, Darrell Lipscomb Jr., Willow Huffman and Maci Chatterton; and daughter-in-law, Reba Chatterton.

The family will have a private memorial service.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
