Mrs. Arletta Mae Griffith, age 72, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Blacksburg.

She was the wife of the late Donald Griffith.

Mrs. Griffith was born January 23, 1949 in Covington, the daughter of the late William H. Tingler and Ruby Wolfe Tingler.

A lifetime resident of this area, she was employed as a caregiver and private sitter. A true people person, Arletta loved caring for her family and friends as well as working with older citizens. She enjoyed cooking and gardening in her spare time.

Mrs. Griffith is survived by two sons, Robert Byer and wife, Anita and James Griffith and wife, Stacey; seven grandchildren, Tyler Griffith, Coty Wylie, Robert Cash, Dustin Cash, Darrian Tucker, Johnny Ward and Priscilla Malone; a number of great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Tingler and wife, Mary and Virgil Tingler and wife, Phyllis; a sister, Joann Wright and husband, Dave; a number of nieces and nephews including special nephew, Richard Armentrout; and her pride and joy, her dog, Tyke.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Simmons and Wanda Fisher, as well as her longtime companion, Willie Miller.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Earwood officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
