Project Engineer for A.E.T. Was Owner Of Highland Computers.

William (Bill) Robert Thompson, age 75, of 1295 Park Ave., Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, November 4, 2021 at LewisGale Alleghany Hospital, Low Moor, Virginia.

Bill was born March 13, 1946 in Alleghany County, Virginia to Margie M. Smith Thompson and the late Alvie "Pete" William Thompson.

He was a Project Engineer for A.E.T. and owner of Highland Computers.

He was an active officer for the Charolaise Cattle Breeders Association and an officer for the Virginia Beef Association.

Bill was a devoted Christian throughout his life, serving as a deacon for many years, and his current home church is Victory Baptist Church in Clifton Forge. He coached Little League, enjoyed volunteering in the community, and was an avid Virginia Tech fan.

In addition to his mother, Margie Thompson of Covington, he is survived by his wife, Mary Wilson Thompson of Clifton Forge; a son, David Thompson and wife, Tammy of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Cherie Austin and husband, David of Buchanan, Marisa Reed and husband, Darren of Clifton Forge, and Renee McCoy and husband, Stuart of Millboro; a brother, Gary P. Thompson and wife, Frances of Moss Run; nine grandchildren, Lauren Fortune, Casey Thompson, Tiffany Jones, Seth Thompson, Hannah Snyder, Molly Austin, Brittany Deisher, Alex Reed and Mary-Cathrine McCoy; five great grandchildren, Gunner Thompson, Walker Thompson, Ella Jones, Cole Jones and Owen Duncan; special friend, Keith Goldberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Brandon Nicely officiating. A private interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Casey Thompson, Alex Reed, Stuart McCoy, Brandon Thompson, Keith Goldberg, Bob Wilson, T. J. Deisher, and Darren Reed. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
