James Ednee Irvine, 97, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away peaceful at his home Thursday, November 4, 2021.

Born October 19, 1924 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Palmer Cecil Irvine and Lula Hostetter Irvine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives, Gertie Elizabeth Irvine, Thelma Marie Irvine, Lena B. Irvine; and sister, Daisy Carter.

James was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from VDOT with 42 years of service.

The family would like to thank Hospice, other family members, caregivers, a niece Gertrude Clark and Sharon Mason for all they did for James.

Surviving are his son, James Edward Irvine of Buena Vista; stepson, Timothy McCormick of Winchester; stepdaughter, Ann Engleman of Eagle Rock; brother, Dallas Irvine of Lexington; and sister, Reva Irvine Brown of Lexington.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 9 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. W. David Bain officiating.
