Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church Member Was Active In Her Community

Betty Ann Smith Peaco Anderson, age 92, of 1014 Cliftwood Circle, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, November 8, 2021 at Richfield Health Center in Roanoke.

Betty was born in Clifton Forge at the former Emmett Memorial Hospital in Clifton Forge.

She attended Longwood College and sang in the college Glee Club and Choir.

She worked for Whiting Oil Company in Clifton Forge and APB-Whiting in Roanoke, General Dynamics at NASA, Cape Canaveral, FL, and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

She was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, where she served as past Elder and President of the Women of the Church and as pianist for the Men's and Women's Bible Classes. She was active in the community as past President of the Clifton Forge Women's Club, a volunteer and member of the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, a volunteer at the Clifton Forge Food Pantry, and a past board member of TAP (Total Action Against Poverty).

She was the daughter of the late Marvin Chapman Smith, Sr. and Ruceille Williamson Roadcap Smith Mays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Everett Mays; first husband, Paul Stuart Peaco, Jr.; second husband, Robert Joseph Anderson; a brother, Marvin Chapman Smith, Jr. and his wife, Betty; and a step daughter, Linda Anderson.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Annette Anderson of Clifton Forge and Lauren Williams of New York, NY, and her nieces and nephews, Ann Paige Smith Gurley of Roanoke, Sarah Lynn Boblett of Martinsville, Marvin Chapman Smith III of Madison, and David Stuart Smith of Roanoke.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be no services at this time.
