Former Eagle Rock Restaurant Owner Dies At Age 89

Alice Mildred Parkins Fridley, age 89, died Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center, Clifton Forge, Virginia.

She was born February 16, 1932 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Chris Parkins and Eileen Bess Parkins.

She was the owner and operator of the former Eagle Rock Restaurant, now known as "Maw & Paws".

Alice loved country music and videos, karaoke, playing BINGO, and cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Fridley; two daughters, Donna Woodson and Brenda Lewis; two sisters, Helen Hoke and Hazel Williams; a brother, Berkley Parkins; and a grandson, Jamie Fridley.

She is survived by five daughters, Linda Stinnett (Joe), Lisa Dilley (Kenny), Penny Anderson (Stacey), Terrie Hippert (Bobby), Laura Humphries (Jeff); a granddaughter that she raised as her own, Marlena Grindstaff (Michael); nine sons, C.J Fridley, Kevin Fridley (Melinda), Barry Fridley (Lisa), Perry Fridley (Wanda), Loren Fridley (Will), Danny Fridley (Jackie), Wesley Fridley (Brent), Randall Fridley (Stephanie), and Patrick Fridley (Melissa); two sisters, Dreama O'Conner and June Craft; a brother, Eddie Parkins; forty-one grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family would like to invite friends following the service to the Selma Fire Department for a meal and fellowship.
