Natural Bridge Station Resident Dies In North Carolina

Jonathan Lyle Ramsey, 59, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, went to heaven on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth, N.C.

Born March 12, 1962, in Lexington, he was a son of the late Lyle Daulton Ramsey and Shirley Watkins Ramsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Jeremy Logan Ramsey, and sister, Judy Wilmore.

He was a member of Beth Horon United Methodist Church.

Jonathan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Esther; son, Joshua and wife, Melinda; his grandchildren who he adored, Kate, Mary, Lyle, Olivia and Martha; his sisters, Sharon (James), Margaret and Carla (Chris); brothers, Joel (Bobbie) and Bruce; mother-in-law, Vivian Moore; sister-in-law, Dolores Moore; brother-in-law, Thomas Moore; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Jimmy and Sheila Wilmore, Patti and Steve Nicely; and his dog, Fred.

He graduated from Rockbridge County High School in 1980 and married his high school sweetheart in 1984 and they raised two sons, Joshua and Jeremy.

In 1994 he opened Jons Import Auto Service. He worked side by side with his wife and sons and even the grandchildren. He enjoyed working on his customers' vehicles, but most of all the friends he made doing this.

He enjoyed bowling in Lexington and later in Roanoke where he never met a stranger. He enjoyed the fellowship with all he bowled with.

He bought a farm in 1999 and, together with his son, Joshua, they raised cattle.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 18 at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lucy Hughes and Donald Thorne officiating.
