Iron Gate Native Was Longtime Iron Worker

Ronald Wayne Adkins, 61, of Adventure Mountain Road, Montvale, Virginia, passed away in his residence Sunday morning, November 14, 2021.

He was a native of Iron Gate, Virginia, born September 28th, 1960 to the late Booker and Nellie Morgan Adkins of Iron Gate.

Ronnie was an iron worker for over 30 years and the branch manager of the International Association of Iron Workers, also known as the Iron Workers Local 697.

He was an avid outdoorsman, storyteller, and friend to all.

Ronnie's passions were deer hunting, being around friends and family, and collecting pieces of history. He was a loving father, a caring uncle and someone who would lend a hand to anyone who needed one.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Helen Nicely Adkins.

He is survived by his beloved son, Dakota W. Adkins; his brother, Charles and wife, Jeannette Adkins of Shacklefords, VA; his sister, Jan and husband, John Franks of Easley, SC; his aunt, Lelia 'Sissy' and Don Helms; five nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews, special friends, Trey and Doreen Hurley, many close cousins, and so many friends far and wide.

Services are yet to be determined and will take place in early 2022. Arrangements will be handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give donations to the Iron Workers Disaster Relief Fund or Heroes Hunting.
