John Wayne Kern, Sr., age 73, of 1228 Crestwood Ave, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born January 29, 1948 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late John William Kern and Lucille Easley Nuckols Kern.

John served in the United States Navy. He retired from UPS as a driver for 27 years and he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Elizabeth Walker Kern; four children, Johnny Kern, Tracy Kern, Amy Allan and Joel Kern; four step children, Bill Browne, Wade Browne, Mary Browne Parker and Tracy Browne; a brother, Darrell Kern; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Luke Benton officiating.
