Sherman (Jay) Austin, 63, of Buena Vista, Virginia, quietly passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

He was born January 29, 1958.

He was preceded in death by his father, James David Austin; two siblings, Wanda Hartless and Billy Gibson; and stepfather, Eddie Berry, Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Berry; his two beautiful daughters, Ashley Loughhead (Keaton) and Katie Austin (boyfriend, Trevor); mother of his two children, Kim Austin; siblings, Betty Latimer, Polly Clark (Donald), David Austin (Ellen), Marie Austin, Mitzi Waters (Travis), Donna Austin, and Jamie Austin; special nephew, Chris Simpkins, many other nephews and nieces; special friends, Penny Fauber, Jonathan Camden, Matt O'Neal, Gary Floyd, Kendall Wheeler, and special pet, Lady.

Jay loved his girls, Ashley and Katie and his dog, Lady. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, as well as loved the races. Jay was also a member of the Monacan Indian Tribe.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, November 26 at the McCaulley Pavilion at the Vista Links.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ashley and Katie for funeral expenses at 481 Fir Avenue, Buena Vista, VA 24416.
