Obituary for Anne DeYoung Weede Anne DeYoung Weede
Longtime Lexington Artist Was Three Decade Member Of The Natural Bridge Garden Club

Anne DeYoung Weede passed away peacefully on November 23, 2021 at her home on Final Hill Farm in Kerrs Creek.

Born September 25, 1941, in Martinsville to George Merrifield and Coila Swiger DeYoung, Anne leaves behind Col. Richard Dunton Weede, USMC (Ret) her beloved husband and best friend of 60 years; two sons, Lt. Col. Richard Hunt Weede, USMC (Ret) and wife, Tessi, and Lt. Col. Hank DeYoung Weede, USMC (Ret) and wife, Nikki. Also surviving are Anne's adored granddaughters, Sara Anne, Hunter Christine and Kalli Anne Marie; and sister, Phyllis Jo Brown.

One of Anne's great joys in life was being the wife of a United States Marine Corps officer and watching both of her sons graduate college and being commissioned as Marine Corps officers. She loved military life, the other military wives, the challenges and rewards of moving every few years.

At the age of 49, Anne decided to follow a long held desire and her college major. She began to make art. She started with water colors but soon found her strength in oils. Many a relaxed and productive day was spent in her art studio painting with Patsy Cline songs blasting from the CD player.

Anne was a three decade member of the Natural Bridge Garden Club. In that club she developed a close bond to many of the members in the oldest club in Rockbridge County.

A private, family only funeral will be held on Final Hill Farm with Anne's ashes scattered in the wind.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
