Rockbridge County Bear Hunter, Farmer Dies At Age 55

Scott Monroe (Porter) Wines, 55, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021.

He was born October 27, 1966 to Emmett Earl "Dick" Wines and Gardenia Alford Wines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Wines; a brother-in-law, Eddie Irvine; a father-in-law, Leo Irvine; and a very special uncle, Monk Wines.

Left to cherish his memory and miss him daily are his wife of 29 years and "love of his life", Tina Irvine Wines; a son, Scottie Beard of Buena Vista; sisters, Joyce Tomlin of Buena Vista, Wanda Rogers of Natural Bridge, Patsy Wines (Carl) of Natural Bridge, Carol Martin of Lexington, Connie Beverly (Darrell Coffey) of Natural Bridge and Bonnie Campbell (Greg) of Fincastle; mother-in-law, Ernie Irvine of Lexington; sister-in-law, Patsy Williamson (Roger) of Buena Vista; a very special nephew whom he considered like a son, Micheal Keith "Mikey" Wines Jr.; many nieces and nephews that adored Porter; and some very special friends who were always there for him, Cricket Hamilton of Glasgow and Ricky Rentz of Lexington.

Porter had a love for bear hunting and farming. Porter would do and did help anyone that ever needed him. He had so many amazing friends that there are too many to mention.

A celebration of life was held Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Porter's home.

Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
