Obituary for Dorothea E. Romano Dorothea E. Romano
Lexington Resident Worked In Printing Industry; Was Longtime Dog Trainer

It is with great sadness and love that the family of Dorothea E. Romano announces her passing on November 29, 2021.

Dot passed away peacefully at her home in Lexington, Virginia, with her husband, Ralph by her side.

Dot was born on January 2, 1947 and grew up in Bellmore, N.Y. She graduated from Mepham High School and went on to study marine biology at SUNY Farmingdale.

She worked for more than 25 years in the printing industry as a lithographer and graphic artist.

After retiring, she opened her dog training business, Dog Talk Obedience, and helped train thousands of dogs and their people. She volunteered for the Rockbridge SPCA for many years, including serving as a president of their board of directors. She was an avid birdwatcher and nature lover.

One of her greatest passions in life was her involvement in the Vizsla breed. She served as the president of the Vizsla Club of America as well as the Vizsla Club of Greater NY. Along with her daughter Rachel and granddaughter Ania, she bred, raised and competed with her prized Vizslas in dog shows, field trials, hunt tests, agility trials and obedience/rally competitions. Her Willorunn Vizslas won top prizes at the Westminster Dog Show, the VCA National Specialty, and the AKC National shows.

Dot will always be remembered as an outgoing person with a big smile and a great zest for life!

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jordan.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Dorsogna; daughter, Andrea; son-in-law, Chris; daughter, Rachel; grandchildren, Ania, Dylan and Carter; sister, Kathy; brother-in-law, Bruce; and her niece, Kim and nephew, Kraig. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockbridge SPCA.
