Obituary for John Wesley (J.W.) Marquardt John Wesley (J.W.) Marquardt
Clifton Forge Resident Was Former Navy Veteran, Policeman, Maintenance Worker

John Wesley (J.W.) Marquardt, age 85, of 2309 Athol Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, December 3, 2021 at his residence.

He was born July 14, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Eldon Wesley and Dortha Miller Marquardt.

He served in the United States Navy, was a policeman for the Dayton Police Department and was a retired maintenance worker for Monroe County Public Schools in West Virginia.

He was a member of the Covington Moose Lodge, a life member of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association and a member of the Alleghany Highlands Retreads Motorcycle Group.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Marquardt; his previous wife, Jackie Marquardt; and a brother, Richard Marquardt.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Franson Ervine Marquardt of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Jennifer Jo Ferguson (Jack) of Kenova, WV; two sons, Jeffrey Marquardt (April) of Caldwell, WV and Darrin Ebright (Joyce) of Beaver Creek, OH; a sister, Janice Gifford of Huber Heights, OH; mother-in-law, Rosalee Martin of Low Moor; grandchildren, Kasea Marquardt (Kyle Fields) of Snow Shoe, Aubri Workman (David Easton) of Covington, Peyton Ferguson (Crystal) of Pickerington, OH; great grandchildren, Jaxson and Josephine Workman; special nieces and nephews, Belinda Christian, Lanty Clemons (Autumn Miller) and Blake Clemons.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A private memorial service will be held for the family at a later date.

The Family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge 24422 and to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, Steeple Fund, 900 N. Alleghany Ave., Covington, Virginia 24426.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements.
