Charles Harvey Smith, 70, of 700 Mt Pleasant Dr., Covington, Virginia, died Friday, December 10, 2021.

Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1951 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Eugene Harvey and Violet Humphries Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Jane Jones; four brothers: Edward Wayne Smith, Russell Eugene Smith, Robert Lee Smith, and Donald Ray Persinger.

He was a truck driver for Byer, Harmon, and Johnson.

He was baptized and attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by a daughter, Angel Tucker and husband, David; a son, Charles Smith and Amanda Tucker, all of Covington; three grandchildren, Haylee Tucker and Dawson Tucker of Covington, and Emma Smith of New Bern, NC; two sisters, Nancy Colman of Covington and Susan Scruggs of Clifton Forge; a brother, Jerry Smith and wife, Mary of Clifton Forge; and a number of nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Daisy.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.

The interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
