Obituary for Thelma Marie Sperka Thelma Marie Sperka
Mohawk Industries Retiree Was Lifelong Member Of The Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship

Thelma Marie Sperka, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehab.

Born November 1, 1938 in Natural Bridge Station, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence H. McDaniel and Mildred Smith McDaniel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Hartless Sperka; son, Kevin Lewis Sperka; and brother, Joseph McDaniel.

Thelma was a lifelong member of Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship where she faithfully served for many decades as teacher, organist, pianist, singer and playwright.

During her lifetime, Thelma thoroughly enjoyed catering weddings and similar events. She became skilled at baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes for thousands of people that brought her much joy.

Thelma was retired from Mohawk Industries with over 30 years of service.

While Thelma enjoyed these lifelong passions, most importantly, she loved her Lord with all of her heart, mind, soul and strength and fully trusted Him until her final breath. She truly was a faithful Proverbs 31 woman, wife, mother and friend. "She is clothed with strength and dignity...". "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gates."

Surviving are her son, Robert L. Sperka; grandsons, Chase Sperka and Jordan Sperka; brothers, Marvin McDaniel and James (Jim) McDaniel (Carolyn); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 21 at Glasgow Cemetery with the Rev. Wes Galford and the Rev. Nathan Phillips officiating.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
