James E. (Shorty) Fauber, 93, of Vesuvius, Virginia, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 17, 2021 at The Regency in Fishersville.

He was born January 5, 1928 in Rockbridge County, the youngest child of the late Wheelin and Lina Bird Allen Fauber.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; brothers, Roy, Gilmer, Buel, Don, and Melvin, and two infant sisters.

James is survived by his children, Jeanette Martino (Michael) of Ashburn, Chris Fauber of Vesuvius, and Mike Fauber (Martha) of Buena Vista; grandchildren, Jacob Fauber (Tara) of Ontario, Canada, and Jesse Fauber Boggs (Phillip) of Lynchburg; great-grandchildren, Sean and Annaliese Boggs; and many nieces and nephews.

James loved his family, his friends, and his farm. He was a kind, gentle and faithful man who was most at home in the outdoors.

He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church for his entire life.

A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28 at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gilmore Fauber officiating.

The family is grateful to the caring staff of The Regency and Heartland Hospice, as well as to extended family and friends for their love, support, visits, cards, and prayers throughout the past months.
