Obituary for Shelby Jean (Hevener) Grant Shelby Jean (Hevener) Grant
McDowell Resident Dies At Age 80

Shelby Jean (Hevener) Grant, 80, of McDowell, Virginia, went to meet her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home.

She was born May 5, 1941 in Monterey, a daughter of the late Elmer and Lucy (Griffin) Hevener.

A child of God, Shelby was an intercessor, encourager, friend, helper and confidant in all she did. She helped with the Word of Faith Food Pantry. Shelby enjoyed quilting, being a seamstress, collecting antiques and gardening.

She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Above all, she will be remembered as a soul mate, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and mentor.

Shelby is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles William "Billy" Grant of McDowell; sons, Jeffrey Grant and wife, Susan of McDowell and Alan Grant of McDowell; sister, Shirley Rexrode of Staunton; brother, Donnie Hevener and wife, Janet of McDowell; daughter-in-law, Kari; brothers-in-law, Roy Lee Grant of McDowell and Gene Grant and wife, Shirley of Staunton; grandsons, Shawn Grant and wife, Anna and T.J. Grant and wife, Katelyn; granddaughters, Amanda Grant, Erica Shank and husband, Aaron, Korrin Burns and husband, Derek and Megan Grant; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Kyle, Chloe, Alayna, Wyatt, Kylie, Lexi, and Joshua; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as brothers and sisters in Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Word of Faith Church with pastor Chip Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Obaugh Funeral Home; as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Grant, Aaron Shank, Duane Hylton, Derek Burns, Mark Rexrode and Bud Wimer.
