Philip Stuart Back, 57, of Fairfield, Virginia died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Augusta Medical Center.

Born December 12, 1964 in Staunton, he was a son of Mary Morris Back and the late Charles William Back.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Back.

Philip was a wonderful husband, Dad, and friend to all. He was a member of New Beginnings Christian Church.

Philip was a propane and fertilizer truck driver for the Rockbridge Farmers Co-op. He enjoyed team roping and helping with the high school rodeo.

Surviving are his wife, Ellen Moore Back; daughter, Makayla Back; stepsons, Mike Mohler (Crystal), and Eric Mohler; nine grandchildren; brother, Anthony Back (Cheryl); half-brother, David Back; three half-sisters, Linda Propst, Virginia McNeely and Carol Howdyshell; a multitude of friends; and a special companion, Bear.

A celebration of life will be held at Back's Arena at a later date.
