John David Wright, age 66, of 5244 North Garden Lane NW, Roanoke, Virginia died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on September 19, 1955 to Betty Lou Holliday Wright Myles and the late John Leo Wright.

John was a 1974 graduate of Clifton Forge High School and received a Bachelor's degree in 1977 from West Virginia Institute of Technology, where he was affiliated with two fraternities, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Phi Mu Alpha.

He graduated with his Master's degree from Radford University in 1993 and served for many years as the Bath County High School and William Fleming High School Band Director before retiring in 2013.

He was a member of the Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Christopher Wright.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Myles of Clifton Forge; his wife, Bonney Sue Burnside Wright of Roanoke; two sons, John E. Wright and wife, Jessica, and Jason F. Wright and wife, Nicole Short, both of Roanoke; a brother, Jay Wright and wife, Arlene of Covington; seven grandchildren, Dylan Mills, Tanner Wright, Brynn Wright, Nora Wright, Elle Wright, Gavin Wright, and Jett Wright; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Chris Walker officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
