Obituary for Lawrence Randall (Ranny) Mason Lawrence Randall (Ranny) Mason
Worked With Radio Station WKEY For Over 50 Years

Lawrence Randall (Ranny) Mason, age 80, of 36 Macedonia West Drive, Saluda, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 11, 2022 while at Advent Health Hospital in Fletcher, NC.

He was born January 12, 1941 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Lawrence Herbert and Marjorie Dale Lilly Mason.

He was a resident of Clifton Forge until 2016 then moved to Saluda, NC.

He was employed by WKEY radio station in Covington, Virginia for 50 years and loved his job. He was a very faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. He enjoyed time with his church family as well as his family, and was an avid train hobbyist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Leola Jane Tucker Mason, and a granddaughter, Amanda Jo Mason.

He is survived by his second wife, Vera Lewis Hembree Mason; four children, Nancy Mason Spencer and husband, Winton, Laura Mason Ferris and husband, David, Kenneth Mason and wife, Mary, and Timothy Mason and wife, Daisy; four step children; 14 grandchildren, Christopher Spencer, Russell Spencer, Alexis Horton, Katelyn Ferris, Matthew Ferris, Todd Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Kerith Brown, Jessica Sullivan, Andrew Mason, Aaron Mason, Avery Mason, Adin Mason, and Adrian Mason; 12 great grandchildren, Genesis Spencer, Skyler Spencer, Ethan Spencer, Aubree Spencer, Arian Spencer, Kaelan Spencer, Ian Spencer, Peyton Spencer, Brooklyn Horton, Bentley Horton, Callan Brown, and Ryah Sullivan; and a number of cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Ken Mason and Pastor Tim Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Mr. Mason's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
